About RSS Feeds:
What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a
use of technology that allows you to receive news from
the Bloomfield Public Libraries automatically, as we
update our website. Updates are sent to a news reader
instead of your email. All you need to do is sign up for
a free news reader and you can start collecting information
from any website that offers RSS feeds. It's a great way
to keep current with information posted to the websites
that you care about.
First, you need to sign up with a news reader. The news
reader does the work of collecting the news updates that
you want from your favorite websites. After you sign up
with a news reader, all you need to do is subscribe to
the RSS feeds that you want from your favorite websites,
and then check your news reader, the latest news updates
will be waiting for you.
If you already have a yahoo email
address, Bloglines
is a good reader to use. All you need to do is
register with your yahoo email. If you do not have a
yahoo email, there are other very good news readers out
there. Google has several Top Picks that are listed
below our RSS feed list.
To subscribe to any of our RSS feeds, click on the orange
RSS icons preceding the feed you want. You will be taken
to the page for that feed. Copy the URL (the text in the
address bar) of the new page that opens and paste the
URL
into the ADD FEED function in your news reader program. That's all there is to
it. Now you can sit back and let the updates come to
you!
