Adult Literacy Program: Basic Reading & Writing for Adults

Please call 860-233-3853 to set up a registration appointment. We will be adding new students to the program throughout the school year. All classes are held at the McMahon Wintonbury Library.

We are also currently recruiting volunteer tutors for all levels of our basic reading and writing classes for adults. Please call 860-233-3853 to get more information about tutoring.

Services to Book Groups

The Bloomfield Public Libraries are proud to offer the following services to book groups:

• Book Club Kits are canvas bags containing multiple copies of a single title which are available for loan to individuals who are members of local area book groups.
   

• Independent Book Groups that have at least one participating Bloomfield resident may register with the Prosser Public Library or McMahon Wintonbury Library. We will help you select and obtain copies of books for your group, as well as provide additional resources to aid in your own research.

Computer Classes and One-on-One Basic Computer Instruction

Prosser Public Library offers regularly scheduled basic computer and technology classes on a variety of subjects. All scheduled computer classes are listed on the Events for Adults page on this website.

If you are brand new to computers and wish to learn basic skills that are not covered in our formal classes, the library also offers one-on-one basic computer skills instruction. Cooling and Heating Centers

Prosser Public Library and P. Faith McMahon Wintonbury Library have both been designated "cooling and heating" centers for Bloomfield town residents during all hours of regular operation. Family Caregiver Support Group

The Family Caregiver Support Group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 1:30 PM at the Bloomfield Senior Center with Reference Librarian Mara Whitman and Licensed Geriatric Clinical Social Worker Lucille Morisse. Homebound Delivery

Adults who are temporarily or permanently homebound due to illness or disability can have library materials delivered to their front door. Contact Reference Librarian Mara Whitman at 860- 243-9721 or by email at marawhitman@hotmail.com .

Museum Passes

Prosser Public Library has a large collection of museum passes that can be charged out by patrons with a valid library card. You may obtain a museum pass by stopping at the Circulation Desk in the Children's Department. Each pass circulates for 2 days. Notary Services

Prosser Public Library and P. Faith McMahon Wintonbury Library both have a notary available to notarize your documents. Please call in advance, if possible, to schedule an appointment.
